WRDA® PA

Complex dispersant technology water-reducing set-accelerating admixture

Product Description

WRDA®  PA is a non-chloride, highly purified, polymer-based water-reducing set-accelerating admixture formulated to produce concrete with enhanced water reduction. It is effective through a wide addition range. WRDA PA combines  the benefit of stronger water reduction, shorter finishing time and superior strength development.

WRDA PA meets and exceeds AS 1478 - 2000 Type WRAc. WRDA PA contains no added chlorides and when dosed  at 1,200mL / 100kg of total cementitious material, contains Triethanolamine (TEA) below 0.05%. WRDA PA is manufactured under rigid controls to ensure uniform predictable performance. It is supplied as a clear and low viscosity liquid with a specific gravity of approximately 1.380kg ± 0.02kg.

One litre of WRDA  PA weighs approximately 1.4 kg ± 0.02kg.

Product Advantages

  • Increases water reduction
  • Enhances finishing time
  • Increases concrete strength
  • Enhances labour savings and productivity

Features

  • WRDA PA will increase stripping strengths for quicker form or mould turn around.
  • Improve finishing times during colder months.
  • Accelerate initial and final sets through a range of temperatures.
  • Increase water reduction to enhance concrete strengths and higher required workability.
  • Can increase de-stressing strengths in pre-stressed applications.
  • Enhance pumpability and finishability.
  • WRDA PA does not initiate or promote the corrosion of reinforcing steel when used at the recommended dose rates.

Uses

WRDA PA is used in all types of pre-mix and pre-cast applications where a non-chloride, water-reducing set-accelerating admixture is required. All types of concrete that have chloride ion restraints such as coastal applications.

Compatibility with Other Admixtures

WRDA PA in combination with an air entrainer can have a synergistic effect, and so increase the air content. It is highly recommended that truck trials be conducted to achieve specified air content. Please consult your local GCP representative for dosage guidelines.

WRDA PA can be used in conjunction with ADVA®  range of high range water reducers. Each admixture should be added separately to the mix.

WRDA PA cannot be used in conjunction with DAREX®  Super 20, DARACEM®  or DARACEM19A.

Addition Rates

WRDA PA can be dosed at between 400 and 1,500mL / 100kg of total cementitious material. The higher addition rates will increase water reduction and acceleration, however admixture performance can depend on concrete components, job conditions, and desired performance characteristics.

To assist you in obtaining optimum performance from your admixtures from GCP Applied Technologies, we can offer comprehensive advice and site assistance service.

Overdosing of WRDA PA will produce and increase concrete workability, air content and decrease setting time. The set acceleration effect will vary dependent on ambient temperatures, cement used, and the amount of overdose. However, provided correct curing procedures are followed, ultimate concrete strengths may be higher than a corresponding mix or standard admixture-dosed concrete.

Dispensing Equipment

Please contact your local GCP representative for further information regarding the dispensing equipment for this product.

Health and Safety

Avoid mixing or bringing WRDA PA in contact with strong acidic materials. Please see the WRDA PA Material Safety Data Sheet, or consult GCP Applied Technologies.
