BITUTHENE ®5000 is a waterproofing material incorporating high strength, heat-resistant mesh embedded in a layer of self-adhesive rubberised asphalt. It is supplied in rolls interwound with special release paper which protects the adhesive surface until ready for use and allows easy handling during installation.
- Cold applied — no heating or hot bitumen bedding adhesive required, self-adhesive overlaps provide continuity. Flexible — easily applied, conforms to changes in profile, accommodates shrinkage cracks up to 0.6mm. Robust — accepts road-laying machinery.

Bituthene 5000 is supplied in rolls 1.00m wide, 20.0m long and in min. membrane thickness of 1.6mm. The rubberised asphalt is covered with release paper that is removed during installation. The membrane is self-adhesive and cold applied. No special adhesive or equipment is necessary to form laps. Bituthene 5000 is an excellent waterproofing membrane for plazas, bridges, vehicular traffic structures, or parking decks to be overlaid with an asphalt concrete wearing course. It is adaptable for either new construction or repair applications.
Bituthene S5000 strips are recommended for the restoration of concrete pavements with asphalt concrete overlays to prevent premature deterioration of asphalt paving over the transverse and longitudinal joints caused by reflection cracking and sub-base erosion. Bituthene 5000 membrane will remain flexible to perform over the extreme range of service temperatures expected on plazas,bridges, and parking decks. Its toughness and flexibility allow it to cycle over small cracks, even during critical winter months.
The membrane is highly resistant to water and deicing salt solutions. Electrical resistance measurements on structures have been exceptionally high to indicate the effectiveness of Bituthene 5000 in preventing water migration into decks.
BITUTHENE 5000 Mastic is a rubberised, asphalt-based mastic. It has excellent adhesion to structural concrete and masonry.
Used to form fillets, seal terminations, edges of patches and overlaps in detail areas. On vertical applications, the mastic must be applied to both the top and bottom terminations.
Apply BITUTHENE 5000 Mastic by trowel. Form minimum 40mm fillets to internal corners and around penetrations. BITUTHENE 5000 membrane may be installed over freshly applied BITUTHENE 5000 Mastic fillets and detailing. Alternatively, allow BITUTHENE 5000 Mastic to cure a minimum 24 hours before installing BITUTHENE 5000 membrane. Apply BITUTHENE 5000 Mastic to all terminations as a minimum 50mm x 3mm thick application. Use PROTECTOFLASH™ bedded into BITUTHENE 5000 Mastic to terminate BITUTHENE 5000 at top edge or vertical applications, or terminate membrane into a reglet, detailed with BITUTHENE 5000 Mastic. Material usage requirements for BITUTHENE 5000 Mastic will vary widely from job to job. For forming of 40mm fillets, application rate is approximately 0.75 lineal metres/L. For membrane terminations, an application rate of approximately 4 lineal metres / L is required. Clean tools with mineral spirits at the end of each day. Mineral spirits is a combustible liquid and should be used only in accordance with the manufacture’s safety recommendations. Do not use solvents to clean hands or skin.
BITUTHENE® 6000 is a heavy duty, preformed composite membrane combining a self-adhesive rubber/bitumen compound and a tough, puncture-resistant 4 ply polyethylene waterproof laminate for waterproofing critical sub-structures and civil works BITUTHENE® 6000 Membrane is specifically designed for waterproofing structural concrete and civil works such as airports, rapid transit systems, power plants, environmental projects and earth sheltered structures.

BITUSTIK™ is a flexible self adhesive tape coated on both sides with Bituthene rubber bitumen adhesive and reinforced with a fibreglass mesh, to provide excellent adhesion to most building substrates.
