CHEMISEAL™

Penetrating clear protective coating

Product Description

CHEMISEAL™ is a modified silicate that chemically reacts with concrete to densify the structure, filling and sealing pores. It prevents water ingress, but allows the structure to breath. The treatment forms a transparent impermeable barrier against water and other elements.

Product Uses

Sealing of concrete on major civil and commercial structures such as car-parks, balconies, rooftops, podium decks, bridge decks, tunnels, wharfs and other marine structures. Suitable for reservoirs and water treatment facilities as well as a hardening penetrant solution to floors in factories, garages, sugar-mills, dairies, etc.

Features

  • Single pack, concentrated solution
  • Non-flammable and non-hazardous
  • Simple application, protects against surface cracking
  • Creates a solid, non-porous mass
  • Seals cracks up to 1 mm in width
  • Makes concrete up to 50% harder
  • May be applied to green concrete – assists curing
  • Seals against oils and grease
  • Prevents damage from rising damp

Typical Properties

Colour Colourless/Grey Translucent
Solids Content 40%
S.G. 1.4
pH 12
Clean up/thinner water
Penetration Up to 15mm depending on the
porosity of substrate

NOTE

  • Do not allow contact with glass, aluminium or asphalt. If contact occurs, flush surfaces immediately with water.
  • Do not use on coloured concrete slabs
  • DO NOT ALLOW TO PUDDLE. If excess application occurs, a thick film build up will appear which must be flushed away with water and broomed off.
  • Use protective gloves and eye protection during use.

Preparation

Surface to be clean and free from contamination. Remove concrete laitance by water blasting and scrubbing.

Application

Dilute CHEMISEAL™ with 4 parts of clean water by weight before use.

New Concrete:

Use low pressure sprayer keeping surface wet with solution for 30 minutes. Squeegee or broom any excess material from surface onto adjacent dry area and continue  application. Surface should assume a “slippery” feel underfoot. Spray any unsaturated areas again lightly.

Old Concrete:

Saturate surface with CHEMISEAL™ using a spray, broom, brush or roller. Keep surface wet with solution for 30 minutes (as for New Concrete). Flush surface if required.

Protective Coating:

Apply uniformly by spray or broom and allow to dry.

Brickwork and Stone:

Apply two to three coats by spray or soft bristled brush. Allow 24 hours to dry between coats.

Coverage

Usually 3-4m2 per litre of diluted CHEMISEAL™ per coat. One flood coat is normally sufficient, but 2-3 coats of CHEMISEAL™ may be necessary on old or very porous surfaces.

Packaging

CHEMISEAL™ comes in 25KG in pails  or 275 KG in drums.

Storage

Store pails in a cool dry place. Unopened containers have a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Clean-up

Remove unsolidified product with water.

Health and Safety

In case of spills and accidents, refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of the products or when in doubt contact your local GCP representative. Always wear protective clothing, gloves and protective goggles when handling chemical products. For full information, consult the relevant MSDS.
