Product Description

BITUTHENE® Mastic 100 is a rubberised, asphalt-based mastic. It has excellent adhesion to structural concrete, masonry and wood. The VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) content is 260 g/L.
BITUTHENE Mastic is available in 20-litre pails.

Uses

BITUTHENE Mastic 100 is used to form fillets, seal terminations, edges of patches and overlaps in detail areas.
On vertical applications, the mastic must be applied to both the top and bottom terminations.

Limitation

BITUTHENE Mastic 100 is an integral part of the BITUTHENE® 5000 waterproofing system. This mastic should not be applied where it will be covered with BITUTHENE® waterproofing membrane, except as permitted as a fillet forming material. It should not be used as a primary waterproofing material. BITUTHENE Mastic 100 is permitted for use only with BITUTHENE 5000 membrane. It is not permitted, and must not be used in conjunction with an other grade of BITUTHENE membrane.

Application Procedures

Safety, Storage and Handling Information

BITUTHENE® products must be handled properly. Vapours from solvent- based primers and mastic are harmful and flammable. For these products, the best available information on safe handling, storage, personal protection, health and environmental considerations has been gathered.

Application

Apply BITUTHENE Mastic 100 by trowel. Form minimum 40mm fillets to internal corners and around penetrations. Allow to cure a minimum 24 hours before installing BITUTHENE 5000 membrane.
Apply BITUTHENE Mastic 100 to all terminations as a minimum 50mm x 3mm thick application. Use PROTECTOFLASH™ bedded into BITUTHENE Mastic 100 to terminate BITUTHENE 5000 at top edge or vertical applications.
Material usage requirements for BITUTHENE Mastic 100 will vary widely from job to job. For forming of 40mm fillets, application rate is approximately 0.75 lineal metres/L. For membrane terminations, an application rate of approximately 4 lineal metres / L is required.
Clean tools with mineral spirits at the end of each day. Mineral spirits is a combustible liquid and should be used only in accordance with the manufacture’s safety recommendations. Do not use solvents to clean hands or skin.
