Product Description
TAVERO VRM 6100 is a chemical additive used as a cement constituent to improve the manufacture and the properties of cement. TAVERO VRM 6100 allows to optimize cement grinding in Vertical Roller Mills (VRM), to control vibrations and to reduce water addition, enabling the production of cements with reduced pre-hydration and improved performance.
TAVERO VRM 6100 is an aqueous solution of selected raw materials to suit the requirements of the cement manufacture.
Physical Properties
Appearance Brown liquid
Density (g/l) 1055-1075
pH 10.0-11.5
Recommended Addition Rate
According to GCP experience the addition rate is typically in the range of 500-1000 ml/ton of treated cement. However the optimum addition rate depends on the characteristics of the material and the grinding circuit and is normally assessed through industrial tests. GCP personnel are available for assistance.
Deviation from the optimum cannot guarantee the expected results and could have an impact on the cement characteristics.
Overdosing can lead to unstable mill operations, as well as undesired modifications of cement properties.
Benefits
TAVERO VRM 6100 is a grinding aid for cement, which reduces the tendency of re-agglomeration of the fine particles formed during the comminution process.
TAVERO VRM 6100 permits improvements in the efficiency of the mill and separator and thus increases the production rate with a corresponding reduction in grinding energy consumption.
TAVERO VRM 6100 also permits improvements of the flowability of the finished cement.
TAVERO VRM 6100 enables stable operation of the VRM with reduced amount of water injection onto the grinding bed. Reduced water injection can lead to reduced pre-hydration of the cement, resulting in improved properties such as higher early strength and reduced setting time.
Cements produced with TAVERO VRM 6100 have a lower pack-set tendency and hence can provide advantages during loading and unloading operations. TAVERO VRM 6100 may also improve the particle size distribution and activate the hydration kinetics, thus increasing the strength of the treated cement.
Advantages
- Reduced tendency of re-agglomeration
- Reduced need for water injection for bed stabilization, leading to reduced cement pre-hydration
- Improved flowability
- Lower pack set tendency
- Increased mill output
- Reduced kWh/t
Certification
TAVERO VRM 6100 meets the requirements of EN 197.
Typical Applications
TAVERO VRM 6100 can be used for the grinding of most cements in vertical roller mills.
Main applications are:
• Portland cements
• Portland blended cements
How to Use
TAVERO VRM 6100 should be added onto the feed belt or injected pure or diluted into the mill. For vertical roller mills, injection directly onto the grinding bed is ideal.
For an accurate proportioning of TAVERO VRM 6100 a volumetric metering pump is suitable.
GCP personnel are available for assistance.
Packaging and Storage
TAVERO VRM 6100 is supplied in 205 litre drums, in 1000 litre plastic containers or bulk.
TAVERO VRM 6100 does not require particular precaution for storage. However it should be protected from freezing or excessive hot conditions. For tanks and containers placed outside in cold conditions a heating system or a re-mixing device is recommended. It is also advisable to insulate exposed pipelines.
Shelf life is at least 12 months if stored in sealed manufacturer’s containers.
Health and Safety
Read and understand the product label and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) if handling the product directly. All users should acquaint themselves with this information prior to working with the product and follow the precautionary statements. SDSs can be obtained by contacting your local GCP representative or office.
