Characteristics

  • Water based acrylic wall / floor primer for use in internal wet areas (only) prior to the application of SILCOR® 140 FB and 145 FB water based membranes.
  • Increases the adhesion of water based membranes to the substrate.
  • Can be applied onto concrete, fibre cement, timber and a variety of common building substrates.

Preparation

  • Ensure all surfaces are sound, dry and free from excessive movement, oil, dust, grease, wax, curing compounds, release agents, paint and any other loose contaminating materials. 
  • For non-porous surfaces, use SILCOR Primer SA or consult your local GCP Office.

Packaging / Shelf Life

  • When applying the primer onto floor surfaces it is recommended to firstly pour some primer in a section then spread the primer using a broom, brush or roller. Then continue this method of application until the entire area is primed. Note: This method of application ensures a thorough coat of the primer on the surface. 
  • Allow the primer to dry for approximately 10 minutes at 20ºC prior to commencing tiling / waterproofing. 

Coverage

Coverage will vary depending upon the substrate. As a guide it will cover approximately 8-10m2/L.

Clean Up

Excess primer, tools and other equipment can be cleaned up using water while the primer is still wet. 

Packaging / Shelf Life

  • SILCOR Primer WA is available in 1L, 5L and 20L Pails. 
  • A pail of SILCOR Primer WA, when stored in a cool, dry environment, and is stored above ground level, will have a shelf life of approximately 12months.

Handy Tips

  • Do not apply SILCOR Primer WA in temperatures above 40ºC and below 5ºC. 
  • For applications / situations not mentioned in this data sheet please contact your nearest GCP office. 
  • For a full SDS on this product please contact your nearest GCP office. 
  • Not suitable for use on compressed cement laminar composite substrates such as Scyon Secura and similar products.  Use NEWFLEX Primer S for these substrates.
  • Suitable for general warranty requirements.  For warranty periods greater than 10 years, use EPOCOTE F100W for priming.
