OPTEC® EC-180C

Product Description

OPTEC® EC-180C admixture helps control primary efflorescence by reacting with alkaline salts before water can solubilise them. It is formulated as a ready-to-use admixture to enhance the quality and appearance of masonry units.

OPTEC® EC-180C can help in maintaining the colour intensity of decorative masonry units, and pavers.

Product Uses

OPTEC® EC-180C admixture has been especially designed for the production of concrete blocks and pavers. However, it can also be used in other manufactured low or zero slump machined concrete products such as segmental retaining wall units.

Product Advantages

  • Manages primary efflorescence
  • Maintains colour
  • Superior surface finish
  • Cost effective

Application Information

OPTEC® EC-180C is compatible with most concrete admixtures. However, when multiple admixtures are to be used, consult your local GCP representative as to any specific application requirements or if they must be added separately to the concrete mixture.

Addition Rates

Addition rates of OPTEC® EC-180C can vary according to the type of application, but will normally range from 195 to 650mL / 100kg of cementitious material, including fly ash and other pozzolans. When specific applications necessitate using more than the recommended addition rates, please consult your local GCP representative.

Health & Safety

All precautions defined on the Material Safety Data Sheet for OPTEC® EC-180C must be followed.

Storage

OPTEC® EC-180C contains no flammable ingredients. It will begin to freeze at approximately 0°C, but will return to full strength after thawing and thorough agitation. Do not use pressurised air for agitation.

Mixing Procedure

For maximum product performance, add OPTEC® EC-180C admixture to the water when dosing. As with all admixtures, do not add OPTEC® EC-180C admixture to dry cement. Depending on the efficiency of mixing equipment being utilised, OPTEC® EC-180C admixture may require addition to the mix prior to the addition of the cement. If this is not practical, the mixing time should be maximised during the mixing cycle of a batch. Consult your local GCP representative if further clarification is required.
