MIRA® VN5

New generation mid-range water reducer

Product Description

MIRA® VN5 is a high performance, new generation mid-range water reducer based on comb polymer technology. It is a ready-to use liquid admixture with superior dispersing capacity for the cement particles in the concrete mix. MIRA® VN5 combines the benefits of normal and high range water reducers., resulting in better slump control and higher water reduction capability.

MIRA® VN5 is formulated to comply with AS 1478-2000 as a Type MWR. One litre weighs approximately 1.065kg ± 0.02kg.

Applications

MIRA® VN5 enables better control of concrete for middle to high slump and low to middle grade concrete strength requirements. MIRA® VN5 is ideal for use in concrete where it is desired to keep the water-cement ratio to a lower level and still achieve the degree of workability necessary to provide easy placement and consolidation.

Product Advantages

  • Formulated to use with manufactured sand concrete mix.
  • Provides long slump life at middle to high slump with controlled set times.
  • Finishes easily without stickiness, tearing or spotty set characteristics.
  • Less susceptible to segregation.
  • Highly efficient, producing desired slump concrete with enhanced strength.
  • Quick and easy application to the concrete mix water for rapid batching.

Compatibility with Other Admixtures

MIRA® VN5, when used in combination with an air entrainer, can have a synergistic effect, and so increase the air content. Therefore it is highly recommended that “truck trials” are undertaken to achieve the specified air content. Please consult your local GCP representative for design guidelines. MIRA® VN5 can be used in conjunction with ADVA® range of high range water reducers, but not with DAREX® Super 20 or DARACEM® 19. Each admixture should be separately added to the mix.

Packaging & Storage

MIRA® VN5 is available in bulk and 205L drums. MIRA® VN5 contains no flammable ingredients. It will freeze at 0°C but will return to full strength after thawing and thorough mechanical agitation.

Addition Rates

Addition rates of MIRA® VN5 can vary with type of application. Depending on the application, dosage rates can range from 400 to 800mL / 100kg of cementitious material. For best results, MIRA® VN5 should be added with the mix water. At a given watercement ratio, the slump required for placement can be controlled by varying the addition rate. Should projects require using more than recommended addition rates, please consult your local GCP representative.
