Product Description
TYTRO® WR 170 is a water reducer developed to be used in shotcrete. TYTRO® WR 170 is an aqueous
solution of highly purified polycarboxylic acid and carbohydrates.
TYTRO® WR 170 contains no added chlorides and complies with AS 1478.1 - 2000 as a Type WR.
TYTRO® WR 170 contains no Triethanolamine.
Dispersion
TYTRO® WR 170 provides a workable mix with less water resulting
in a stronger, less permeable concrete.
Product Advantages
- TYTRO® WR 170 is suitable for shotcrete with a range wide range of strengths.
- TYTRO® WR 170 can be used in shotcrete to provide initial water cut and dispersion. A Type HWR (Superplasticizer) like TYTRO® WR 172 is used in combination with TYTRO® WR 170 to provide the required final slump for spraying.
- TYTRO® WR 170 is batched at the concrete plant and is dispensed into the mix with the initial mix water.
Application
TYTRO® WR 170 is used in wet shotcrete to offer water cut, cement dispersion, strength growth and provide economics to a mix.
Addition Rates
Addition rates of TYTRO® WR 170 can vary depending on the application, weather conditions, what other admixtures are used in the mix and grade of concrete.
The typical does range is 200 to 600mL / 100kg of total cementitious.
It is recommended that trials are conducted beforehand to determine the optimum dose rate to suit the shotcrete design.

Compatibility
TYTRO® WR 170 is compatible with all Portland cements, fly ash and silica fume. TYTRO® WR 170 is very compatible with TYTRO® WR 172, TYTRO® HC 270 and TYTRO® RM 471 and TYTRO® RC 430 to produce high quality, water tolerant shotcrete. All admixtures must be added to the mix separately and not premixed with other admixtures prior to addition.
Packaging and Storage
TYTRO® WR 170 is available in 1,000L totes , 205L drums and bulk. Please consult your GCP representative for a Safety Data Sheet.
